No matter if you are an experienced fisherman or not, this destination is suitable for everyone. There are many islands and reefs right nearby that hold large amounts of giant trevally, snappers, groupers, sharks and other exciting species. When we were introduced to this destination, we received a report that the fishing was extremely good and the area was relatively unexplored. The area has a large variety of species that you can target with different fishing methods. Within reasonable distances, you can also reach the drop-off where marlin and sailfish usually are found. On the edges towards the larger depths patrol the most brutal fish you can challenge with a rod, the Dogtooth tuna. Our partner has caught several fish up to 70 kilos throughout the years and is ideal to target while jigging!

The fishing season runs from September – December and March – April. The methods for catching fish off Rote Island are many, topwater fishing with poppers or stickbait is the most popular but don’t forget to try both slow and speed jigging, trolling, live bait fishing or why not light tackle.
